This new edition covers some more complicated statistics not
included in the first edition which will make the scope of this
book even more useful to postgraduates whilst not detracting from
its overall introductory nature. The contents list is the same,
except for a major new chapter on "Multivariate Analysis" (chapter
18).
This chapter introduces the nature of multivariate problems and describes techniques of principal components analysis, cluster analysis and discriminant analysis which are all applied to biological examples. No topics have been removed, however, there are a few modifications to enhance the clarity of the existing text and some minor additions; These include:
- An extension to the description of probability and the confidence interval interpretation.
- Some re-ordering of the correlation chapter to present more logical flow.
- Extension to the use of the Tukey Test for handing one way analysis of variance when group sizes are unequal. and
- An appendix detailing the statistical computing packages available.
