"...very accessible, generally clearly laid out and a fine introduction to some of the issues in this growing field..." (British Journal of Educational Psychology, Vol 73(4), December 2003)

This book is well written and inclusive with a realistic approach to problems encountered in schools today. Practical and useable interventions are included which makes this text a valuable resource to the school social worker. Dr. Dupper's research of the literature for this book is outstanding.
—Terry Housteau-Hill, L.C.S.W., Lead Consultant, Knox County School Social Services, Knoxville, Tennessee

Dr. Dupper has written a textbook with broad appeal for practitioners, students and professors specializing in school social work. He covers an array of school-based interventions either proven or promising to be effective in critical areas addressed by school social workers. Given the need for accountability in regard to efficacy and "state of the art" practice knowledge this textbook is an invaluable resource for professionals whose time for research is limited. Though rich in research the book is extremely reader friendly, providing descriptive vignettes, listings of program contact information, and addresses for related web sites.

I am a school social worker in CT at the high school level. I read your School Social Work text over the summer and shared it with my colleagues during our convocation today.
I wanted to let you know how much this book impressed us for not only its comprehensiveness, but also in its potential as a resource for articulating our role within our district. I have been implemented the "school survival" curriculum during the first marking period of this year. The book has served as an ongoing reference for many other facets of school work practice. Thank you so much for providing such a useful and significant tool. As you know, it can be very isolative and challenging for social workers in education.
—William Mecca, LCSW, LADC, New Canaan Public Schools
