AUTHOR BIO:

Rick A. Myer, Ph.D. is a Professor at Duquesne University and a licensed psychologist. He has over 25 years of experience in crisis intervention and management. He has published over 35 articles, book chapters, and two books on the topic. In addition, Rick consults with businesses and schools on crisis management. He also provides training for law enforcement personnel and higher education staff on assessing people/students in crisis.

Richard "Dick" K. James, Ph.D. is a Crader Professor of Education at the University of Memphis. He is a licensed psychologist, a licensed professional counselor, and a Nationally Certified School Counselor. He is the author of Crisis Intervention Strategies currently in its sixth edition and  Theories and Strategies in Counseling and Psychotherapy also in its sixth edition.    He teaches graduate classes in crisis intervention at the University of Memphis. He is one  of the founders of the Memphis Police Department Crisis Intervention Team which is the prototype used to train police officers across the United States and internationally.  

Patrice Mouton, Ph.D. is a Full Professor of Psychology at Northwestern State University of Louisiana and served a Vice President for Student Affairs for two years at that institution. She has written several books and published on topics that include crisis intervention and trains students and professionals in the area of Crisis Prevention and Intervention. Patrice has been very active in the development of university emergency plans, organization and implementation of threat assessment teams, and revision and implementation of critical incident policies and procedures for higher education.
