Political Studies Special Issues
The Political Studies Association is one of the world's oldest political studies associations. The 60th anniversary in 2010 is an opportunity to reflect on the achievements over the last 60 years, in the UK and internationally, on the issues and ideas that are now at the cutting edge of political analysis, and on the new directions to pursue in the future. To commemorate the 60th anniversary a number of events and celebrations are being planned, including the publication of two new books. British Political Theory in the Twentieth Century edited by Paul Kelly, contains a selection of writings from the seminal figures in British political theory from Bernard Bosanquet to Anne Philips and Bhikhu Parekh. It traces the transformation of political theory and its relation to trends in British politics and the state. The Development of a Discipline: The History of the Political Studies Association by Wyn Grant, will trace the history of the Association to reveal the changing nature of the study of politics in Britain and the development of British higher education.
The older titles in this book series are based on special issues of Political Studies, the premier political studies journal of the UK. Each is produced by a distinguished guest editor, and is organised around a major theme spanning the world of political research and political practice. The volumes tackle their large themes from all angles of the discipline - from those of political philosophy, public policy, and political history.
