EVEYRONE HAS THE RIGHT TO MY OPINION

Wiley Announces the First-Ever Collection of Editorial Cartoons
By 2008 Pulitzer Prize Winner, Michael Ramirez

"Michael Ramirez says more in one cartoon than most talking heads say in a full day. Plus, Ramirez is hilarious."
- Bill O'Reilly, anchor, Fox News Channel

“Michael Ramirez gives new meaning to the phrase ‘drawn and quartered.’  Rather than be depicted in a Ramirez cartoon, most politicians would choose to be chopped into fourths and disemboweled.”

- P.J. O’Rourke, Journalist, Author

“As a columnist who works with words, I strongly reject the familiar axiom that a picture is worth a thousand words. Unless, of course, they are the marvelous pictures that Michael Ramirez draws. They are sometimes worth a thousand columns.”

- George Will, Nationally Syndicated Columnist

Provocative, hilarious, and insightful, EVERYONE HAS THE RIGHT TO MY OPINION (Wiley; October 2008; $34.95; Hardcover) is the definitive collection of editorial cartoons by 1994 and 2008 Pulitzer Prize winner, Michael Ramirez.  From Election 2008 and global warming to media bias and the war in Iraq, Ramirez pulls no punches with a unique combination of hard-hitting commentary, gut-busting humor and intricate artwork.

“No blowhard is safe…No sacred cow is immune.” – Michelle Malkin

An equal opportunity offender, Ramirez hits every issue head on.   In EVERYONE HAS THE RIGHT TO MY OPINION, you’ll find amusing and poignant jabs at the people and policies behind virtually every major issue over the last two decades.  With cartoons on everyone from Cheryl Crow and Elliott Spitzer to Barack Obama and John McCain, Ramirez’s work is a uniquely amusing, informative, and thought-provoking chronicle of our time.

But Seriously, Political Cartoons Are No Joke…

To be a serious cartoonist, you need to be a serious journalist.  Michael Ramirez is both, with a unique ability to deliver visual commentary that packs a punch—and a punch line.  It's the reason he's one of the most awarded editorial cartoonists of all time, winning two Pulitzer Prizes, three Sigma Delta Chi's, the National Journalism Award, and the 2008 John Fischetti Editorial Cartoon Competition, to name just a few.  He was named "Best Editorial Cartoonist 2006" by the National Cartoonist Society.

Whether you’re liberal, conservative or somewhere in between, EVERYONE HAS THE RIGHT TO MY OPINION will challenge you to consider alternative views.  As Ramirez says, “One good editorial cartoon can have a significant impact on the political dialogue of the day. If done well, it can influence those who govern to govern responsibly, and expose them when they do not.  Some of my cartoons may make you laugh. Some of my cartoons may you cringe, but all of them, I hope, will make you think.”

In EVERYONE HAS THE RIGHT TO MY OPINION, Michael Ramirez’s encyclopedic knowledge of the news and unmatched artistry make for a compelling romp through nearly 15 years of scandals and controversies, war and peace, illicit affairs, monetary policy, politicking, and international affairs – all beautifully rendered by Ramirez’s pointed pen.
